All of life is joining. A knitting together of who we are with who we were made to be. And to really arrive, to really know who we were made to be, we must surrender ourselves to joining with the great Creator — the one true God. It is not a joining that is demanded, but requested and pled for — not pushed. This grand maker does not need to be joined with us. The plea to join Him is founded in love, forged on a cross, and sealed with resurrection life.

And every Sunday, we join together — those of us who have joined with Him — to celebrate and remember. To remind ourselves that the only way we can join together in pure and right union here is to first be joined completely with Him.

In the true spirit of Five Minute Friday, this post was written during my lunch break on my iPhone while I waited in line for a cheeseburger. Our challenge is to write for 5 minutes flat on the prompt: “Join” with no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.

(Full disclosure: There was a bit of backtracking and a little overthinking.. but not too much)

Loved your disclaimer. i’ve wondered if i could do this from my phone. I can only imagine what it would actually end up saying. Hope the cheeseburger was as good as your words.

Your words, your heart, your honesty and your enviable cheeseburger. HMMMM Good. Love where you went with this. I need a disclaimer of mine too, had to correct a glaring yuck or two before I published. Hope there is grace abounding in this community, with or without the caveats. Enjoy your Sunday, joining together what I believe to be your “new” body of believers.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! Not that my words would flow as well as yours, but this thought… of our joining to Christ did cross my mind!! I went with my initial thought so as to not overthink and backtrack… which I did anyway!! :)
and I’m so thankful for the Sunday joining with fellow believers… it’s what gets me through the week! :)

And that is the way to really arrive, isn’t it.
My goodness, wish I was in line with you over lunch to hear this in person!! Oh what God can do through you in moments most of us toss aside!

The folks in line behind me probably just thought I had a serious texting conversation going on. And, if you’d have been in line behind me, I’m sure we would have had lots to talk about and I wouldn’t have been writing at all. :-)

Not only is the CONTENT good, but the fact that you did it from your phone is amazing!!

Okay, I absolutely love that you wrote this on your phone while waiting for a cheeseburger. That just makes me smile. You’re awesome.

    Oh Eyvonne,
“A knitting together of who we are with who we are created to be”..this is so beautiful. It validates who I am at this moment, in all my beautiful mess while simultaneously giving me hope in who I am becoming. And that, my friend, is grace.
    Thank you.

Thanks for this – it reminded me of Ephesians and that immense sense of being joined with others as we are all united in Him. Can’t believe you wrote this on your phone while waiting for a cheeseburger! Awesome stuff!
